The 2025–26 Norwegian Football Cup is the 120th season of the Norwegian annual knock-out football tournament and the first season since the competition was switched to the autumn-spring format.[1][2] It started on 13 August 2025. The final will be played on 9 May 2026.
The winners will play in a qualifying play-off match against Lillestrøm, the winners of 2025 Norwegian Football Cup, for the place in the 2026–27 Europa League play-off round. However, this qualifying play-off match will be cancelled if Viking, Bodø/Glimt or Lillestrøm ends up winning this tournament. If so, then Lillestrøm will directly enter the 2026–27 Europa League play-off round.[3]
As a transitional arrangement, the qualifying rounds and the first two main rounds will be played without the teams from the 2025 Eliteserien. For the third time in the tournament's history, the 16 clubs from the top-tier will enter the third round first, the first two were in 1998 and 2000, when there were 14 teams.
