Waipā District Council (Māori: Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Waipā) is the territorial authority for the Waipā District of New Zealand.[3]
The council consists of 12 elected members: the mayor of Waipā, Mike Pettit[4], and 10 general ward councillors and 1 Māori ward councillor.[3]

History
The council was established in 1989, through the merger of Waipa County Council,[8] Cambridge Borough Council (established in 1886),[9] and Te Awamutu Borough Council (established in 1915).[10] The council established a Māori ward in 2021, with the first Māori ward councillor elected in the 2022 local elections.[11]
