The 16121/16122 Tambaram–Thiruvananthapuram Central Amrit Bharat Express is India's 25th Non-AC Superfast Amrit Bharat Express train, which runs across the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala by connecting the city of Chennai to the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, Tambaram serves as a vital third terminal that eases the load on the city's main hubs with Thiruvananthapuram Central, state's busiest and most iconic railway landmark of Kerala in India.[1][2]
The express train is inaugurated on 23 January 2026 by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conference.[3]
Overview
The train is operated by Indian Railways, connecting Tambaram and Thiruvananthapuram Central. It is currently operated 16121/16122 on weekly basis. [4]
Rakes
It is the 25th Amrit Bharat 2.0 Express train in which the locomotives were designed by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) at Chittaranjan, West Bengal and the coaches were designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory at Perambur, Chennai under the Make in India Initiative.
