Maria Luisa cake (Spanish: torta María Luisa) is a dessert found in Salvadoran cuisine. It is a type of layer cake, similar to the English Victoria sponge cake. However, unlike a Victoria sponge, the Maria Luisa cake usually includes orange juice and orange zest.[1] Variations of the layering exist, but typically jam, marmalade or dulce de leche is used.[2][3]
