Góra Bogusza (German: Henschelkuppe) is a mountain in the Włodzickie Hills (Wzgórza Włodzickie), in the Central Sudetes of south-western Poland. Official municipal documents of Nowa Ruda describe Góra Bogusza as a hill overlooking the Drogosław district, and list its elevation as 542 metres (1,778 ft) above sea level.[1][2]

Geography

Góra Bogusza lies in Kłodzko County in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, on the western side of the urban area of Nowa Ruda. The summit at 50°36′42″N 16°26′54″E rises above the district of Drogosław, on the edge of the built-up area and the wooded slopes that connect the town with the surrounding hills.[3]

In official planning documents, Nowa Ruda is described as lying in the Sudetes between the Owl Mountains and the Włodzickie Hills, in the valleys of the Włodzica and Woliborka streams. Within this setting, Góra Bogusza is one of several named elevations around the town, alongside hills such as Ruda Góra and Góra Świętej Anny.[1][2]

The municipal tourist map of Nowa Ruda marks Bogusza directly south-west of central Drogosław, confirming its role as a local topographic landmark above the district.[3] The mountain belongs to the chain of rounded hills typical of the Włodzickie Hills, which form part of the broader relief of the Central Sudetes.[1]

Name

The present Polish name Bogusza was officially standardized after the Second World War. In the official list of restored and established place-names published in 1949, the mountain appears under the German name Henschelkuppe and Polish name Bogusza, with the latter adopted as the official Polish form.[4]

In modern local usage, the form Góra Bogusza is employed in municipal documents and tourist materials of Nowa Ruda.[1][3]

Tourism

The hill stands in an area used for local walking and hiking. A municipal promotional brochure for Nowa Ruda describes a route running by Bogusza and then turning toward the forest edge, from where views open towards Sokoli Garb.[5]

The surroundings of Góra Bogusza are also included in local long-distance devotional walking routes. Materials published by the parish in Nowa Ruda place Bogusza on the route of the Trasa św. Barbary, which connects several hills and viewpoints around the town.[6]
