Pre-season and friendlies

On 23 May, Chesterfield announced their first pre-season fixture, against Matlock Town.[52] Three weeks later, a second friendly was added against Sheffield United.[53] Also confirmed was a training camp in Spain, along with a friendly against Europa Point.[54] On 17 June, a fourth friendly match was added to the schedule, against Burton Albion.[55] A fifth and sixth friendly was later announced, against Nottingham Forest and Alfreton Town.[56][57]
