Włodzicka Góra is a mountain in the Włodzickie Hills, a range of the Central Sudetes, in south-western Poland. At a height of 757 metres (2,484 ft), it is the highest peak of the Nowa Ruda Depression and the highest of Włodzickie Hills.[1] The mountain is located in the village of Świerki, in Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
Geography
Włodzicka Góra lies west of Ludwikowice Kłodzkie at the north-western edge of the Włodzickie Hills, above a bend of the upper Włodzica river. The mountain rises as a steep and fairly regular cone, which to the south-east passes into a long, level ridge. Its western, north-western and north-eastern slopes descend towards the Włodzica valley.
The mountain is built of Lower Permian red-bed formations, mainly sandstone and conglomerate, with Carboniferous sandstones and conglomerates also occurring within the massif.[2] The summit and a large part of the slopes are covered by spruce and beech forests.
An observation tower originally built in 1927 stood on the summit; in 1934 it was given the name of Paul von Hindenburg. The present tower was rebuilt by the Gmina Nowa Ruda local authority and officially reopened on 19 October 2018.[3] It offers panoramic views of the Owl Mountains, Wałbrzych Mountains and Stone Mountains.
