Włodowice Viaduct

The Włodowice Viaduct is a railway viaduct in the village of Włodowice in south-western Poland. It carries the Kłodzko Główne–Wałbrzych Główny railway (line 286) across a valley on the Krępiec.^[1]

The viaduct forms part of the historic railway route linking Kłodzko with Wałbrzych, a line noted for the number of bridges, viaducts and tunnels required by the mountainous terrain.^[2]

The viaduct was built as part of the development of the railway from Kłodzko towards Nowa Ruda and Wałbrzych, now line 286.^[3] The route was constructed in the nineteenth century and required numerous engineering structures to cross valleys and streams in the Sudetes.^[4]

After the Second World War, the line became part of the Polish railway network. The infrastructure is managed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.^[5]

The Włodowice Viaduct is a three-span railway viaduct with a total length of 53 m (174 ft).^[6] According to the local monument and photo documentation, the structure originally consisted of three 17 m (56 ft) plate-girder spans, giving a combined length of 53 m (174 ft); its clearance is described as nearly 19 m (62 ft).^[7] The same source notes that the central pier was damaged in 1892 and subsequently rebuilt.^[8]

The viaduct is one of the engineering structures on line 286 between Kłodzko Główne and Wałbrzych Główny.^[9]
