Targavar Rural District (Persian: دهستان ترگور)[5] is in Silvaneh District of Urmia County, West Azerbaijan province, Iran.[6] Its capital is the village of Mavana.[3]
History
The district was home to a significant Assyrian Christian population before the Assyrian genocide, but is mostly populated by Herki Kurds today.[7][8][9]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the rural district's population was 7,893 in 1,344 households.[10] There were 7,765 inhabitants in 1,603 households at the following census of 2011.[11] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 8,381 in 1,862 households. The most populous of its 39 villages was Mavana, with 1,314 people.[4]
