Iceland–Italy relations are the bilateral relations between Italy and Iceland. Both countries are full members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development[1] and NATO.[2]

History

Italy and Iceland established diplomatic relations on August 15, 1945[3] but the first bilateral trade agreement was signed in 1935, with Icelandic fish exports to Italy.[4]

Iceland opened its embassy in Rome in 2005.[4]

Italy conducts relations with Iceland through its embassy in Oslo, Norway.[5]

High level visits

In May 2023, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made an official visit to Iceland.[6][7]

Economic relations

In the second quarter of 2025, Iceland exported €7.69M to Italy and imported €6.7M they were mainly pharmaceuticals.[8]
