Drosophila funebris (Fabricius, 1787) | |
Drosophila funebris is a species of fruit fly. It was originally described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1787, who placed it in the genus Musca[3][2] but is now the type species of the paraphyletic genus Drosophila.[4] Drosophila funebris is a member of the Immigrans-tripunctata radiation of the subgenus Drosophila.[5]
It is a cosmopolitan species.[6] It is an exotic species in New Zealand.[7] In Australia it is found in New South Wales, and Victoria.[6]
