Cyprus–Latvia relations are the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Latvia. Both countries are members of the European Union[1] and the OSCE.[2] Diplomatic relations between the countries began on December 20, 1991, soon after Latvia regained independence.[3][4] Finland recognized the independence of Cyprus on August 16, 1960. Official diplomatic relations began on September 2, 1961.[4]

Agreements

A double tax treaty was signed on May 24, 2016 and entered into force later that year. A goal of it was to encourage trade and investment between the countries.[5][6]

High level visits

On June 19, 2025 President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides made the first official visit to Latvia, meeting President Edgars Rinkēvičs. The leaders discussed their countries common history of foreign occupation and strong support for a rules-based international order.[7]
