Chmielnik (German: Hopfenberg) is a hill in the Włodzickie Hills, a small mountain group in the Central Sudetes of south-western Poland. The summit rises to about 430 metres (1,410 ft) above sea level.[1]

Geography

Chmielnik lies in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in Kłodzko County near the town of Nowa Ruda. The hill rises above the valley of the Włodzica River and forms part of the chain of elevations surrounding the Nowa Ruda basin.[2]

The Włodzickie Hills are a group of rounded hills forming part of the Sudetic uplands between the Owl Mountains and the Table Mountains. According to publications of the Polish Geological Institute, the range extends roughly 20 km within the drainage basin of the Włodzica River.[3]

Chmielnik lies east of the urban centre of Nowa Ruda, close to other hills of the Włodzickie Hills including Wesoła and Czerwona Góra.[2]

Landscape

Like many hills of the Włodzickie Hills, Chmielnik is characterised by forested slopes and gentle rounded forms typical of the Central Sudetes. Forest roads and local paths connect the hill with neighbouring elevations and with the surrounding settlements of the Nowa Ruda area.[2]
