Brzeźnica (also called Kozie Chrzepty) is a hill in the Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills in southwestern Poland. It reaches an elevation of 492 m (1,614 ft).[2] In the official Polish geographical names register (PRNG), the summit is recorded under the primary name Kozie Chrzepty with Brzeźnica as a variant name.[1]
Geography
Brzeźnica lies on the border of the gminas Bardo and Stoszowice in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, near the eponymous village of Brzeźnica.[1] The hill forms part of the Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills within the Sudeten Foreland.
Geology and mining heritage
Brzeźnica is part of the Braszowice–Brzeźnica gabbro–serpentinite massif, a small complex of igneous and ultramafic rocks within the Sudetes region, discussed in the geological literature in connection with nearby serpentinites and gabbros.[2] The wider area has a documented history of mineral extraction, including magnesite mining in the vicinity of Braszowice; remnants of former workings are described in studies of the former “Anna” magnesite mine and the surrounding mining district.[3]
Tourism
A marked hiking route passes the summit area as part of the trail network managed and documented by the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK).[4]
