Arzana (Italian: [ˈartsana]; Sardinian: Àrtzana, Àrthana) is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of Ogliastra in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northeast of Cagliari and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) west of Tortolì. It has 2,211 inhabitants.[3]

Arzana borders the municipalities of Aritzo, Desulo, Elini, Gairo, Ilbono, Jerzu, Lanusei, Seui, Seulo, Tortolì, Villagrande Strisaili, and Villaputzu. Arzana is located about 670 metres (2,200 ft) above sea level.

Demographics

As of 2025, the population is 2,211, of which 50% are male, and 50% are female. Minors make up 13.8% of the population, and seniors make up 26.8%.[4]

Of the 2,204 residents at the time of the most recent count that included countries of birth, residents' countries of birth included the following countries, in descending order of frequency: Italy (2,131 – 96.7%), Germany (25 – 1.1%).[7]
