AGGÖZ Gimbal 275

The AGGÖZ Gimbal 275 is a Turkish camera system developed by Asisguard, a defense company. It is used for spotting, tracking, and targeting on air, land, and sea vehicles. The system, was implemented into service by the Turkish security forces in 2024, works both day and night and has advanced tracking features. It helps Turkey reduce its reliance on foreign defense technology.

Development

The AGGÖZ Gimbal 275 is a development of Turkish defense company, Asisguard, that specializes in electro optical and gimbal technologies.[1] The system is part of Turkeys strategy of reducing reliance on foreign defense equipment. the system was highly successful in numerous trails before entering the Turkish armed forces. The name AGGOZ means "national eye", highlighting its symbolic role in national defense.[1][2]

Design and features

The system is designed to operate day and night in a wide range of environmental conditions and deferent types of weather. Its key feature include

Electrooptical system

The system uses high-resolution daytime camera for long-range reconnaissance and surveillance.[3][4]

Thermal imaging

Inside the system is installed a cooled thermal camera enabling vision at night and in difficult weather.[3][4]

Laser rangefinder

In the system a laser rangefinder is implemented for accurate distance measurement to targets.[3][4]

Automatic target tracking

This enables continuous monitoring of moving objects.[3][4]

Image stabilization

As the system is used on various platforms this feature ensures clarity during operation on mobile platforms.[3][4]

Multi-platform compatibility

suitable for use on aircraft, land vehicles, and naval platforms.[3][4]

The system is noted for its relatively low weight, durability, and ease of integration.[3][4]

Operational use

The AGGÖZ Gimbal 275 was implemented into the Turkish security forces in 2024, following a line of successful testing. It will be used for multiple operations that include, border security, counter terrorism operations, as well as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Its use helps Turkey conduct accurate surveillance and targeting in different areas of operation.[1][2][5]

Strategic importance

The AGGÖZ Gimbal 275 is part of Turkey's effort to make its own defense systems and depend less on foreign suppliers. It is considered as a step toward building stronger local defense technology and increasing the chances of exporting Turkish military products.[4][1]
