A by-election was held in the Dáil constituency of Galway East in Ireland on Tuesday, 20 July 1982. It followed the death of Fianna Fáil TD Johnny Callanan on 15 June 1982.[1]
A government motion to issue the writ of election to fill the vacancy was agreed by the Dáil on 30 June 1982.[2] The by-election was won by Fianna Fáil candidate Noel Treacy.[3]
