Zeller is an Australian financial services and digital payments company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2020, the company provides payment acceptance, transaction accounts, and financial management tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Australia.[1]
History
Zeller was founded in January 2020 by Ben Pfisterer and Dominic Yap, both former executives at Square (now Block, Inc.). The founders developed the business after identifying limitations in existing banking and payments services for Australian small businesses, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
On 30 June 2020, the company announced A$6.3 million in seed funding, led by Square Peg with participation from Apex Capital Partners.[3] Zeller launched its core products on 4 May 2021. Within one month, more than 1,500 businesses had signed up, with many migrating from services offered by Australia's major banks.[4]
In March 2021, Zeller raised A$25 million in a Series A funding round involving Square Peg, Apex Capital Partners, and Addition.[5]
Ahead of its public product launch, the company raised a further A$50 million in June 2021 in a funding round led by Spark Capital, valuing Zeller at approximately A$400 million.[6][7]
In 2022, Zeller raised A$100 million in a Series B funding round, reaching a valuation of approximately A$1 billion.[8]
In October 2025, Zeller announced its entry into the United Kingdom, marking its first international expansion into the UK small and medium-enterprise payments market.[9]

The company offers tap to pay functionality on compatible Android and iPhone devices, allowing merchants to accept card payments without dedicated hardware.[15] Zeller also provides online invoicing tools and a virtual terminal for remote payment acceptance.[16]
Zeller Invoices

Additional services
Zeller has expanded its services to include corporate cards, savings accounts, point-of-sale integrations, and a mobile application. In partnership with Optus, the company offers a SIM card for payment terminals used outside Wi-Fi coverage. It also launched Zeller Developer Suite, which includes SDKs and APIs for third-party integrations.[19][20]
Business model
Zeller generates revenue primarily through transaction fees on card payments. The company applies a single flat fee across supported card types and targets Australian SMEs.[21]
