Yanarsu (Kurdish: Zoke; Syriac: Al-Zūq)[2] is a village in the Kurtalan District of Siirt Province in Turkey.[3] The village is populated by Kurds and had a population of 148 in 2021.[1][4]
History
Al-Zūq (today called Yanarsu) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Christians.[2] In the Syriac Orthodox patriarchal register of dues of 1870, it was recorded that the village had 13 households, who paid 87 dues, and was served by one priest.[2] There was a Syriac Orthodox church of Yūldaṯ Alohō.[2]
