Ya v momente

"Ya v momente" (Russian: Я в моменте) is a song by Russian hip-hop artists Eldar Dzharakhov and Markul.^[1][2] It was released on June 3, 2021, as a single for digital download and streaming through the label Warner Music Russia.^[3] The lyrics were written by the performers themselves, and the music by Viktor Sibrinin, Pavel Lichadeev, and Yuri Muzychenko.^[3] The song was produced by Sibrinin and the band The Hatters.^[1] The song, in the pop-rap genre, was a commercial success and entered numerous charts. On August 5, 2021, a second version of the track was released, recorded by Dzharakhov together with Mary Gu.

Initially, the frontman of the band The Hatters, Yuri Muzychenko, invited Dzharakhov to take part in their live performance celebrating the fifth anniversary of the band's founding and to record a feature on one of the songs. Eldar chose the track "Ya delayu shag" from the mini-album Shoot Me, wrote lyrics for it in 15 minutes, and performed his verse solo. The phrase "Ya v momente", which quickly became famous, was first heard at the Shlyapnikov concert. After the release of the live album (April 22, 2021^[4]), the new version of the song updated by Eldar quickly took the top positions in streaming service charts, and over half a million videos were made on TikTok featuring Dzharakhov's verse. People made remixes, translations of the song, and memes, making the lyrics more and more recognizable. In one Russian school, the song became the anthem for graduates.^[5][6]

The song uses the original melody and sample from the song "Ya delayu shag" from the mini-album Shoot Me by the gypsy folk rock band The Hatters.^[7]

The other artist on the release, Markul, said that he accidentally saw a clip of the "Ya delayu shag" live performance and, fully convinced that the track had already been released, wrote to Eldar with praise. A couple of days later, Eldar suggested he record the second verse for a new version of that performance.^[7] "Ya v momente" was released on June 3, 2021, and again secured top positions in streaming service charts.^[6][8]

After some time, Dzharakhov announced that he was going to delete the track from all music platforms, as he was tired of user comments saying they had never heard the song but were already tired of it.^[9][10][11] It later became clear that the announcement was a performance leading up to the release of an alternative version of the track, recorded together with Mary Gu.

An alternative version of the track was recorded by Dzharakhov together with Mary Gu and titled "Ya v momente 2". It was released on August 5, 2021, in the pop genre and with a more melancholic mood.^[15][16] Its release was preceded by Dzharakhov's announcements about supposedly deleting the original version of "Ya v momente" from all streaming platforms, which ultimately did not happen.
