Socialist Workers Thailand

Socialist Workers Thailand (Thai: สังคมนิยมแรงงาน),^[1] formerly known as the Workers' Democratic Group (กลุ่มประชาธิปไตยแรงงาน), is a Trotskyist political organisation in Thailand. Founded in 1998, it is a member of the International Socialist Tendency led by the Socialist Workers Party in the United Kingdom.^[2] The SWT views that only a social revolution can eliminate existing systemic violence and injustice. The goal is to establish socialism, which is defined as democracy in both the political and economic spheres. Activities of the SWT are focused on the interests of the proletariat and radical democratic reforms^[3] through the creation of a welfare state and opposition to nationalism.^[4][5]

SWT describes itself as a Marxist organisation in the Trotskyist tradition, emphasising:

• Integration between patriarchy and socialism
• Socialism from below by self-activity of the working class rather than top-down state socialism^[6][7]
• Permanent revolution and internationalism
• Executive and legislative powers were merged into the one party's committee
• Opposition to Stalinism, reformism, imperialism and nationalism
• Stopping the Thailand-Cambodia conflict^[8]
• Revolutionary overthrow of capitalism to establish a socialist society based on workers' democracy
• Strong criticism of Thai-style "semi-feudal, semi-capitalist" structures, including the monarchy's role in legitimising military and elite rule
• Solidarity with Palestine, Venezuela, Iran, Islamists, and Jihadists against the Zionism and American imperialism^{[9][10][11][12][13]}
• Nationalization of forests and natural resources to the state
• Liberation feminism and gender identity from sexual repression^[14][15]
