Western Reserve High School was a public high school in Warren, Ohio. from 1966 until 1990. It was one of two high schools located in the Warren City School District. Their nickname was the Raiders. Western Reserve was shut down in 1990, due to budget constraints and declining enrollment. The former high school consolidated with Warren G. Harding as a result[1]
History
Western Reserve was built in the fall of 1966 and served students grades 9–12.[2] The high school was built due to Warrens population increase in the 1950s and 60s and with Warren planning a residential expansion, it needed a second high school.[1] However, as Warren's population declined in the 1980s, along with the high school facing budget constraints, Western Reserve decided to consolidate with neighboring Warren G. Harding High School in 1990.[3] The building was used as a middle school until sometime in the early 2000s when it was closed for good.[4][1]
as a part of the Warren City Schools redistricting process, it closed all but 4 middle schools in the Warren City Schools District, and demolished the remaining schools that were closed, including the former high school in 2011.[5][6]
Athletics
Warren Western Reserve was the first ever OHSAA Football State Champions back in 1972 under the new championship game era format.[7]
