Wei Keliang (Chinese: 魏克良; born January 1962) is a Chinese politician who has served in various administrative and political roles in Fujian Province.[1] He is currently a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of its Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese.
Biography
Wei Keliang was born in January 1962 in Jian’ou, Fujian Province, China. He holds a postgraduate degree and a Master’s degree in Philosophy. Wei began his career in August 1982 and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in March 1986.[2]
From July 1995, he successively served as deputy director and then director of the Construction Land Management Division of the Fujian Provincial Land Administration Bureau. In September 2000, he became a researcher and later director of the Planning Division in the Fujian Provincial Department of Land and Resources.[3] In May 2002, Wei was appointed as a member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the same department. In April 2008, he was promoted to Party Secretary and director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Land and Resources. In March 2013, he became Party Secretary and director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Water Resources.[4] Two years later, in February 2015, he was appointed Party Secretary and director of the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission.[5]
Wei went on to serve as deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from January 2018.[6] In December 2019, he concurrently served as secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Xiamen CPPCC. From January 2020 to January 2025, he served as chairman of the Xiamen CPPCC.[7][8]
He has been a delegate to the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, a member of the 9th and 10th CCP Fujian Provincial Committees, and a delegate to the 10th Fujian Provincial Party Congress. He is also a member and standing committee member of the 13th Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and currently serves as a member of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC and its Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese.[3][9]
