Venturia is a genus of parasitoid wasps belonging to the family Ichneumonidae.[1]

The genus has cosmopolitan distribution.[1]

Among the species in the genus are:[1]

  • Venturia ahlensis Maheshwary, 1977
  • Venturia altia (Morley, 1913)
  • Venturia aurantia [2]
  • Venturia biroi [2]
  • Venturia canescens (Gravenhorst, 1829)
  • Venturia contiguus [3]
  • Venturia crassicaput (Morley, 1926) [2]
  • Venturia inclyta (Morley, 1923) [3]
  • Venturia himachala Gupta & Maheshwary, 1977 [3]
  • Venturia levocarinata [3]
  • Venturia liuae [3]
  • Venturia mortifera Vas, 2020[4]
  • Venturia peringueyi (Cameron, 1906) [2]
  • Venturia serpentina Maheshwary, 1977 [3]
  • Venturia yunnanensis [3]

Parthenogenetic reproduction

Venturia canescens can produce haploid males from unfertilized eggs (arrhenotoky), a form of parthenogenesis.[5] Females may also produce diploid female offspring by thelytoky, a type of parthenogenesis that involves the production of female progeny in the absence of mating.[5]
