Venturia is a genus of parasitoid wasps belonging to the family Ichneumonidae.[1]
The genus has cosmopolitan distribution.[1]
Among the species in the genus are:[1]
- Venturia ahlensis Maheshwary, 1977
- Venturia altia (Morley, 1913)
- Venturia aurantia [2]
- Venturia biroi [2]
- Venturia canescens (Gravenhorst, 1829)
- Venturia contiguus [3]
- Venturia crassicaput (Morley, 1926) [2]
- Venturia inclyta (Morley, 1923) [3]
- Venturia himachala Gupta & Maheshwary, 1977 [3]
- Venturia levocarinata [3]
- Venturia liuae [3]
- Venturia mortifera Vas, 2020[4]
- Venturia peringueyi (Cameron, 1906) [2]
- Venturia serpentina Maheshwary, 1977 [3]
- Venturia yunnanensis [3]
Parthenogenetic reproduction
Venturia canescens can produce haploid males from unfertilized eggs (arrhenotoky), a form of parthenogenesis.[5] Females may also produce diploid female offspring by thelytoky, a type of parthenogenesis that involves the production of female progeny in the absence of mating.[5]
