Valérie Ayena (born Denise Valérie Ayena on 7 May 1991) is a Cameroonian model, beauty queen, actress, media personality, and entrepreneur. She rose to fame after being crowned **Miss Cameroon 2013** and subsequently represented her country at the **Miss World 2013** pageant. Since then, Ayena has developed a successful international modeling career, ventured into film and radio, and founded business initiatives in health and media.[1]

Early life and education

Valérie Ayena was born on 7 May 1991 in Douala, Cameroon, where she grew up and completed her early schooling. She obtained a Higher Technician's Certificate in Communication in 2011 before moving abroad to further her studies. Ayena pursued communication studies at City University College in Cape Town, South Africa.[2]

Pageantry

Ayena began her modeling and pageantry journey in Cameroon, participating in fashion events like K-Walk in 2011. She was crowned **Miss Centre** during regional qualifying rounds in July 2013, which qualified her for the national finals.[3] On **9 August 2013**, Ayena won the **Miss Cameroon 2013** title at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, outcompeting more than 20 contestants.[4]

Her win granted her the opportunity to represent Cameroon at the **Miss World 2013** pageant.[5]

Modeling career

Following her reign as Miss Cameroon, Ayena resumed her modeling career at the international level. She signed with MMG Models in Dubai and walked major runways across Africa and the Middle East.[6] In 2019, she joined **City Models** in Paris, where she participated in fashion week shows, including Paris Fashion Week, and featured on magazine covers.[7] Ayena has also fronted fashion campaigns for brands including Beverly Hills Polo Club.[8]

Acting and media

In addition to modeling, Ayena expanded into acting, appearing in the Cameroonian film *Love Trap* as Charline Zuzu, a leading role that marked her screen debut.[9] She also appeared in web series formats earlier in her career. Ayena joined **Sweet FM** radio in 2020 as a co-host for the morning show *Le BHB Club*, broadening her media presence.[10]

Business and entrepreneurship

In 2021, Ayena joined NAJA Talent Management (NAJA International Group) to professionally manage her career and business interests.[11] By 2025, she had relocated to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where she focuses on entrepreneurial ventures. She co-founded **MyDermaLife**, a tele-dermatology platform dedicated to skin health care and dermatology access for Black and mixed skin types.[12]

Personal life

Ayena is known to be active on social media and shares professional and personal milestones with her audience. Public speeches and interviews cite her commitment to fashion, culture, and health advocacy.
