Umair Haroon is a Pakistani television producer and director. He launched Pakistan's first forensic science-based investigative television series.[1]
Life and education
Haroon was born (22 November 1982) in Karachi, Pakistan.[2][3][4] He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Sindh Medical College in 2006.[2] In 2015, he completed fellowship training in forensic medicine at Dow University of Health Sciences. He is reported to be the first Pakistani to pass the examination and earn Diplomate status from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.[1][5] He later earned a master's degree in Public Health from the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).[6][7]
Career
Haroon serves as the President of Metro1 News and Executive Director of Voice of Sindh.[8][9] He has produced more than 200 media projects, including television dramas, short films, documentaries and songs on ethics, history, and social awareness.[10][11] His notable works include Sindh Meri Jaan, Jinnah Tum Durust Thay, and Tareekh Kay Musafir.[1]
His publications include Voice of Sindh and The Story of Indus Civilization.[12][13][14] He is also a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the organisation that administers the International Emmy Awards.[15][16][17]
