Uchtepa (Uzbek: Uchtepa/Учтепа, Russian: Учтепа) is an urban-type settlement in Jizzakh Region, Uzbekistan. It is the administrative center of Sharof Rashidov District.[1] The town population in 2005 was 10110 people.[2]

History

The name "Uchtepa" (meaning "three mounds") refers to three ancient mounds located in the area, which served defensive and observation purposes. Historically, these mounds were situated near the Khayrobod and Qaliya neighborhoods. Uchtepa has served as the administrative center of the district since its establishment in 1926. It was granted the status of an urban-type settlement in 2009.

Infrastructure

As the district center, Uchtepa hosts several administrative and social facilities, including:

  • Jizzakh Advanced Vocational Skills Technicum.
  • Central District Hospital and a medical dispensary.
  • A cultural center, district library, and a museum.
  • The "O'rda" Youth Ecological Park and a central stadium.

The settlement is an important transport hub, located on the highway connecting Jizzakh and Sirdaryo.
