Traveen Sashenka Mathew (born 14 June 2004) is a Sri Lankan cricketer.
Early life and education
Mathew was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He attended Kingswood College, Kandy, and later St. Anthony's College, Kandy, both of which are known for their rich cricketing traditions. He began his cricket journey at the school level, quickly gaining a reputation as a difficult spinner to read due to his high release point and variations.
Domestic career
Lanka T10
Traveen Mathew emerged as the standout performer of the inaugural 2024 Lanka T10 Super League, finishing as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets for the Jaffna Titans. At just 20, he maintained a remarkable average of 8.64, highlighted by a match-winning 4 for 10 in the season opener.[1]
International career
Mathew represented Sri Lanka at the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In late 2025, following a series of strong performances for Sri Lanka ‘A’ (including a Player of the Match performance of 3/21 against Hong Kong in the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament), Mathew was called up to the preliminary senior national squad for the T20I series against Pakistan in January 2026.[2]
