The Ghost in the Shell (Japanese: 攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, Hepburn: Kōkaku Kidōtai Za Gōsuto in za Sheru) is an upcoming Japanese anime television series produced by Science Saru, based on the 1989–91 manga of the same name by Shirow Masamune and part of its media franchise.[1] It is set to premiere in July 2026.

Production

Science Saru will be in a production committee with Bandai Namco Filmworks, Kodansha and Production I.G.[2] The anime is directed by Mokochan with series composition and episode scripts by EnJoe Toh, with character designs and chief animation direction by Shuhei Handa.[3] Music is done by Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi and Yuki Kanesaka.[4]

On January 30, 2026, the key visual and preview video were released along with the launch of the series website and social media accounts.[5]

Broadcast

The anime will premiere on July 2026 on the Ka-Anival!! programming block on Kansai TV, Fuji TV and their affiliates.[6][5]

Amazon Prime Video will stream the series worldwide and holds an exclusive early release window before the televised airing in Japan.[7][8]
