Nguyễn Thành Lộc (born November 3, 1961), professionally known as Thành Lộc, is a Vietnamese male actor, businessman, and stage director. He was awarded the state title Meritorious Artist in 2001 for his contributions to national arts.

Biography

Thành Lộc was born in Saigon into a family with a strong artistic tradition. His father was Thành Tôn (1913–1997), and his mother was Huỳnh Mai (1930–2019).[1]

In 1969, at the age of eight, Thành Lộc began performing with the City Children's Cultural House dance troupe and later the children's drama group of Vietnam Television (Republic of Vietnam). At that time, he used the stage name Thành Tâm. During this period, he appeared as a child actor in the films Đất khổ (Land of Suffering) and Tứ quái Sài Gòn (The Four Misfits of Saigon).

In 1982, he graduated from the Acting Department of the Ho Chi Minh City College of Theatre and Cinema, and in 1983 joined the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Theatre Troupe.[2]

Later in 1983, he joined the Experimental Drama Club of Ho Chi Minh City (now known as the Small Stage Theatre). In 1997, he moved to perform at IDECAF Theatre (Institute of Cultural Exchange with France). In May 2023, he left IDECAF, and in September 2023 launched a new venue named Thiên Đăng Theatre in District 1, Saigon.

In 2008, Thanh Loc decided to release a music album called "Magical Things". The CD included children's songs performed by himself. This project was undertaken to raise funds to help unfortunate children suffering from cancer at the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital.[3]

Between 2000 and 2023, Thành Lộc appeared in over 30 productions, portraying dozens of characters including fairy godmothers, demons, animals, narrators, witches, and folk heroes.

From 1982 to present, Thành Lộc has performed in more than 100 stage productions and in numerous folk and pop recordings, many in collaboration with Hồng Vân, Hữu Nghĩa, Lam Trường, Cẩm Ly, and others.
