Taxfix

Taxfix is a fintech company and a platform for digital tax-filing and accounting services headquartered in Berlin, Germany, led by Martin Ott (CEO).

Founded in 2016 by Mathis Büchi and Lino Teuteberg,^[1][2][3] Taxfix specialises in the digital preparation and submission of income and business tax returns via a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.^[4]

Taxfix operates mobile apps and a web-based platform built on cloud computing infrastructure. Through these platforms, users can prepare and submit tax returns without manually filing traditional forms.^[5]

In 2022, Taxfix received “unicorn” status after being valued at over $1 billion.^[6]

Expanding its services to the UK in 2024, Taxfix now has offices in Berlin, Stuttgart/Fellbach, London and Madrid. The company offers services to users across Germany, the UK and Spain.^{[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]}

Since its founding in 2016, the company has raised more than $320 million. Investors include the Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG) fund, the venture capital arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), Redalpine, and Valar Ventures, in addition to Creandum and Index Ventures.^[7][14][15]

During 2022, the company raised $220 million in capital. Following this investment round, Taxfix was valued at over $1 billion, with industry reports deeming it to have ‘unicorn’ status.^[7][16][17]

In Feb. 2023, Taxfix made its first acquisition, adding Stuttgart-based Steuerbot to its portfolio.^{[7][18][19][20][21]}

During July 2024, Taxfix began the process of acquiring London-based TaxScouts, ultimately expanding its services to the UK.^{[7][10][11][12][13]}

In the same year, Taxfix generated approximately €67.3 million in revenue.^[22]

In the UK, Taxfix offers AI-powered tax filing solutions for individuals, landlords, self-employed professionals and small businesses. Customers answer a series of questions, get paired with a certified accountant who prepares their Self Assessment and files it directly with HMRC. For Taxfix's accountant partners, the platform provides smart tools, automation and AI-driven workflows.^[4][23][24]

For German customers, landlords, employed and self-employed professionals, Taxfix offers accounting and tax return services via self-guided questions, transmitting users’ answers in encrypted form to the Taxfix servers and via ELSTER to the tax office. It also offers expert tax advisory services.^[4]

In Spain, Taxfix connects individuals and businesses with a network of certified tax advisors who handle all filings and paperwork. Taxfix provides a seasonal service for individuals where an expert reviews and files the annual income tax return. Services are also offered for freelancers to manage business registration, quarterly tax filings, and invoicing. Additionally, Taxfix's web-based services can be used as a management portal for small companies to centralize corporate taxes, bookkeeping, and payroll.^{[25][26][27][28]}

Taxfix's platform is built on a scalable cloud architecture leveraging a broad suite of Google Cloud technologies, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Firebase and Pub/Sub.^[5]

Taxfix's customer data infrastructure relies on tools such as Twilio Segment, Snowflake, and Looker. This stack enables unified data processing, analytics and personalised user engagement across regions.^[29][30]

All user data is transmitted in encrypted form to Government systems, following standards also used in banking systems. User data is hosted on servers based within the European Union.^[4][31]

Taxfix has been described as a “leading force in European financial technology” by industry publications.^[32]

In Jan. 2026, German news outlet Handelsblatt listed Taxfix's services in an article comparing and testing “the best” tax software and apps.^[33]
