Takiseeq, also referred as Takisêq, Takisek, and Takisseq is a small uninhabited polar island in the Sermersooq municipality of southeastern Greenland in the Kingdom of Denmark.[1][2]
Geography
The island has an area of 21.5 square kilometers (abbreviated as km2) and a shoreline of 45.6 kilometers (often shortened as km).[1] The island's coordinates is 65° 29' 0" north and 39° 6' 0" west.[2]
The island is in the continent of North America, and is located on the North American Plate.[1]
Climate
The island's climate is a tundra, and it has extremely cold weather and temperatures.[1] The island has long winters, and short cold summers, with short growing seasons.[1]
Topography
The island is mostly made of small hills, and it has an average elevation of 141 meters (463 feet).[1] The highest point on the island is measured to be 243 meters (797 feet) above sea level.[1]
Wildlife
Due to the island's harsh weather, it has little wildlife, which is mostly herbaceous cover that consists of grasses, herbs, and ferns.[1]
Approximately 24% or 1/4 of the island is covered in trees, despite trees being extremely rare in Greenland.[1]
