The Sylhet Development Authority (Bengali: সিলেট উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ, romanized: Silēṭ Unnôẏôn Kôrtipôkkhô; abbreviated as SDA) is a self-governing urban development authority in Sylhet, Bangladesh, responsible for planning, regulating, and implementing the city’s master plan. Established in 2023 by the Government of Bangladesh, the authority oversees urban growth and prepares comprehensive master plans that are periodically reviewed to guide long-term urban development. The SDA operates under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.[1][2][3]
History
In 2022, Ministry of Housing and Public Works created a draft act to create Sylhet Development Authority. The following year the Sylhet Development Authority act, 2023 was passed in Bangladesh national Parliament.[4][3]
