Svrčinovec

Svrčinovec (Hungarian: Fenyvesszoros, until 1899 Szvrcsinovecz) is a village and municipality in Čadca District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1658.

In November 1938, the village was annexed by the Polish Army, in wake of the annexation of Trans-Olza region to the Second Polish Republic.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 432 metres (1,417 ft)^[3] and covers an area of 15.73 km² (6.07 sq mi) (2024).^[4]

It has a population of 3305 people (31 December 2024).^[6]

In year 2021 was 3370 people by ethnicity 3308 as Slovak, 52 as Not found out, 28 as Czech, 8 as Polish, 8 as Other, 3 as Italian, 3 as Romani, 2 as Ukrainian, 2 as Russian, 1 as Rusyn and 1 as Bulgarian.
