Sura Detuwo

Sura Detuwo (Sinhala: සුර දෙටුවෝ) is a 2026 Sri Lankan Sinhala comedy film directed by Lakmal Weerasiri and produced by Sudesh Muthunawagonna for Soul Frame Creations.^[2][3] The film stars Lakmal Weerasiri and Shan Arosha in lead roles along with Suhandi Wosadee, Dilhani Ekanayake, Sanath Gunathilake, Dhananjaya Siriwardena, Ajith Weerasinghe and Sudeeksha Samadhi in supportive roles. Popular television actor Darshan Thavarajah also made his film debut with the film.^[4][3][5]

This is the maiden Sinhala cinema direction by Lakmal Weerasiri,^[3] who is a popular stand-up comedian and also worked as a radio and television presenter, songwriter, screenwriter, singer, as well as an editor.^[2][9][10] Currently, he performs in social media as a content creating comic duo "Lakai and Sikai".^[11][12] In the film he also penned the song lyrics. The film is produced by Sudesh Muthunawagonna with the assistance of Michael Wijaya Kumara, Sarath Weerasinghe Anton J. Fernando, whereas Aruna Jayawardena handled executive production, Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa with production planning, Palitha Thennakoon with production management. Assistant Directors are Tharindu Arachchige, Theekshana Manaram and Chalidu Theekshana.^[2][4][12]

Cinematography done by Madhava Kamalsiri and editing co-handled by Madhava Kamalsiri and Pathum Sandaruwan. Screenplay co-written by Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa and Priyanath Vidanapathirana along with director.^[12] Art direction done by Akuramboda Piyatissa with the assistance of Ranjith D. Silva and Gayan Galewela. Makeup done by Rangana Thilakawardena with the assistance of Madhuka Jayathilaka and Nathasha de Silva, color mixing and post-production supervision by Shan Alwis, whereas sound management done by Shashin Gimhan Perera and hair styling by Thilini Samarasiri and Suraj Rash.^[2][4]

Sandun Fernando is the stunt director, Pavithra Abeysinghe is the costume designer and Indika Mallawarachchi is the still photographer. Song Composition and music direction handled by Nizam Gunasinghe and Kasun Kalhara respectively.^[12] Shan Arosha, Manej Sanjaya, Sethini Weerasiri, Nethini Dulanma along with director himself made the background vocals. Charuka Dushmantha made the visuals of film songs.^[2][4]

The Muhurath ceremony of the film was held at Waters Edge, Battaramulla in July 2025.^[13][14] The film is released on 12 March 2026 in island wide in EAP cinema theatres.^[15][3][16]
