Suhana Thapa (Nepali: सुहाना थापा) is a Nepalese film actress. She debuted as an actor with the film A Mero Hajur 3, of her own home production.The film marked her official entry into the industry as a lead actress and brought her widespread recognition.

Born into a filmmaking family, she is the daughter of actress and director Jharana Thapa and producer Sunil Kumar Thapa. In addition to acting, Suhana has also been involved in film production, contributing to projects associated with her family’s banner. She is regarded as one of the emerging young figures in contemporary Nepali cinema.

Personal life

Thapa is a devotee of the Hindu god Krishna.[1] Thapa is known to maintain a balance between her professional and academic pursuits. She has shared aspects of her spiritual beliefs and personal life publicly, reflecting her interest in the intersection of culture, psychology, and spirituality.

Early life and education

Thapa was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, into a family with a strong background in filmmaking. She is the daughter of actress and director Jharana Thapa and film producer Sunil Kumar Thapa. Growing up in a cinematic environment, she was exposed to filmmaking from an early age and began appearing in her family’s productions as a child artist.

In 2025, Thapa completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (Mind–Body–Spirituality) from Columbia University. Her research focused on the cultural and psychological dimensions of spirit possession in Nepal and explored the intersection of psychology, spirituality, and cultural consciousness, emphasizing holistic and culturally informed approaches to mental health.

Career

She has also produced A Mero Hajur (2002), A Mero Hajur 2 (2017), A Mero Hajur 3 (2019) and A Mero Hajur 4 ( 2022).

Following her debut, Thapa continued her involvement in the A Mero Hajur franchise, contributing both as an actress and producer under her family’s production banner. She appeared in A Mero Hajur 4 (2022), further consolidating her presence in mainstream Nepali cinema. In addition to acting, she has been active behind the scenes in film production, playing a role in shaping projects associated with her home production and expanding her career beyond on-screen performances.[2]

Public image and reception

Suhana Thapa has been described by Nepali media as one of the emerging young faces of mainstream Nepali cinema. Following the commercial success of A Mero Hajur 3, she gained recognition for her screen presence and association with youth-oriented romantic dramas. Her performances have attracted attention particularly among younger audiences, contributing to the popularity of contemporary romantic films in Nepal.[3]

As the daughter of actress and director Jharana Thapa, Suhana has also been noted for continuing her family’s film legacy while establishing her own public identity. In addition to acting, her involvement in film production has shaped her image as both a performer and a contributor behind the scenes in the Nepali film industry.

Acting career

Thapa appeared as child artist in A Mero Hajur (2002), she recalls "Yes, A Mero Hajur was my first movie, but I hardly remember it since I was very young.".[1] In the prequel of A Mero Hajur (2002) she appeared as a lead actress in A Mero Hajur 3 (2019) opposite of Anmol K.C.
