Biography

Born in Vancouver, Kooner received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Simon Fraser University in 2001,[2] and later graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law with a Juris Doctor.[3][4] He had practised in British Columbia since 2006,[5] and had owned his firm, Steve Kooner Law Corporation, for over 17 years as of 2024.[3][6] He received the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award in 2023.[4][3]

He was named the BC Conservative candidate for Richmond-Queensborough in April 2024,[7] and defeated the incumbent New Democratic Party candidate Aman Singh in that October's provincial election to become the riding's member of the legislative assembly.[8][9] He was appointed Shadow Attorney General in November 2024, opposite the current Attorney General Niki Sharma.[10][4] Kooner briefly ran to be leader of the Conservative Party of BC in 2026.[11][12]
