Shen Huzi
Shen Huzi (沈虎子) was an official of the Wuyue kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, serving as chancellor under Qian Chu (錢俶) (King Zhongyi)[1].
When Emperor Taizu of Song campaigned against the Southern Tang in Jiangnan, he ordered Wuyue to dispatch troops. Qian Chu wished to attack Changzhou, but Shen Huzi remonstrated: "Jiangnan is our kingdom's protective screen. Now Your Majesty removes your own screen—what shall we use to defend the country?"[1] The king refused to heed this counsel and ultimately advanced to capture Changzhou. In 978, Shen Huzi accompanied Qian Chu in submitting to the Song dynasty. Emperor Taizong of Song granted him official rank and title, and he died on his duty.
