Seredka (Russian: Середка) is a rural locality (a village) in Megrinskoye Rural Settlement, Chagodoshchensky District, Vologda Oblast, Russia. The population was 19 as of 2002.[2]
History
Many villages in this region originated between the 16th and 19th centuries as small agrarian or forestry settlements. The wide Volgosa area was historically inhabited by Finno-Ugric peoples, later integrating into the Russian state through Slavic expansion.[3] Rural settlements like Seredka functioned as subsistence farming commuities, or logging and resource based hamlets.[3]
Geography
Seredka is located km northeast of Chagoda (the district's administrative centre) by road. Lvov Dvor is the nearest rural locality.[4] It is located in a region dominated by forested landscapes and dispersed rural communities.[5] Volgoda Oblast is part of the East European Plain and lies within the taiga (boreal forest) zone. The terrain is generally flat to a gently rolling incline, roughly 150 to 200 m above sea level.[5] The broader region is rich in natural resources like timber and freshwater.[3]
