Sceloporus oberon, also known commonly as the Oberon spiny lizard,[2] the royal lesser minor lizard,[3] and la lagartija menor negra[2] in Mexican Spanish, is a species of lizard in the subfamily Sceloporinae of the family Phrynosomatidae.[2] The species is endemic to Mexico.[1][2]

Etymology

The specific name, oberon, is an allusion to Oberon, king of the fairies in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.[4]: 193 

Geographic distribution

Sceloporus oberon is found in the Mexican States of Coahuila and Nuevo León.[1][2]

Habitat

The preferred natural habitat of Sceloporus oberon is rocky areas in forest.[1]

Behavior

Sceloporus oberon is terrestrial and saxicolous (rock-dwelling).[1]

Diet

Sceloporus oberon preys upon centipedes.[3]

Reproduction

Sceloporus oberon is viviparous.[1][2]
