Sceloporus oberon, also known commonly as the Oberon spiny lizard,^[2] the royal lesser minor lizard,^[3] and la lagartija menor negra^[2] in Mexican Spanish, is a species of lizard in the subfamily Sceloporinae of the family Phrynosomatidae.^[2] The species is endemic to Mexico.^[1]^[2]

Etymology

The specific name, oberon, is an allusion to Oberon, king of the fairies in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.^[4]^: 193

Sceloporus oberon is found in the Mexican States of Coahuila and Nuevo León.^[1]^[2]

The preferred natural habitat of Sceloporus oberon is rocky areas in forest.^[1]

Sceloporus oberon is terrestrial and saxicolous (rock-dwelling).^[1]

Sceloporus oberon preys upon centipedes.^[3]

Sceloporus oberon is viviparous.^[1]^[2]
