Salomão Pavlovsky (September 11, 1924 — September 19, 1997) was a Brazilian entrepreneur and journalist.

History

Born in the Inhaúma neighborhood, Pavlovsky was son of Jewish parents, Ukrainian Moisés Pavlovsky and Romanian Cecília Rosemblat.[1] His trajectory started early, still a child, he worked as a shoeshine and newspaper delivery to help the immigrants family, that came settling in Brazil.[2]

In 1957, Pavlovsky left the today capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro and moved to Sorocaba, in the inland of the state of São Paulo, where he worked with the sale of publicitary spaces. Invited to the radio world, Pavlovsky worked by 17 years on PRD-7 Rádio Clube (currently Rádio Boa Nova), accumulating roles of radio presenter and commercial director of the radio and of the newspaper Cruzeiro do Sul.[1]

In the 70s, the first FM radio stations started to emerge in the country, and then, the visionary Salomão Pavlovsky enabled himself in the Brazilian Ministry of Communications to install the first FM radio station in the inland of the state of São Paulo. Thus, in 1978, Rádio Vanguarda FM is born.[2]

On October 5, 1990, Pavlovsky inaugurated the pioneer of the UHF television stations in Brazil, TV Sorocaba (currently TVS+), affiliated with SBT. This enterprise is in society with Grupo Silvio Santos, owner of SBT, that entered with 20% of the necessary capital.

Pavlovsky became a prominent figure in the political environment of São Paulo and with transit in the National Renewal Alliance, party of the military government. He consolidated himself as political interviewer in the period. Between his interviewed, there was Ronald Reagan and the Queen Elizabeth II. Pavlovsky was credentiated as a journalist in the Palácio dos Bandeirantes and Palácio do Planalto.[2]

Death

Pavlovsky died on September 19, 1997, eight days after turning 73.

Tributes

Proeminent figure in the society and in the political of Sorocaba, Pavlovsky's name baptizes the viaduct of the Castelo Branco Highway over the Senator José Ermírio de Moraes Highway, the Castelinho, and the bridge between the East Zone of Sorocaba and the Santa Rosália neighborhood.
