History and Affiliation

The college was affiliated with the University of Travancore on 14 March 1952 and was formally inaugurated by the then President of the Travancore Devaswom Board. The foundation stone was laid on 7 April 1952 by A. Ramaswamy Mudaliar, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Travancore, in the presence of P. G. N. Unnithan. The ceremony was presided over by the Tamil poet Kavimani Desigavinayagam Pillai. Following the reorganization of states in India, the college experienced several changes in its university affiliation: it was first brought under the University of Madras in 1957, later transferred to Madurai Kamaraj University in 1966, and eventually became part of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in 1990.[4]

As of 2025, the institution is ranked in the 151–200 band[5] of the National Institutional Ranking Framework(NIRF).[6] The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and has been accredited with an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).[7]
