Sümeyye Sezer Zeybek (born 2 April 1991 in Antalya, Turkey) is a Turkish female freestyle wrestler who has competed in the 48 kg and 50 kg divisions.[1] She won the silver medal at the 2013 Mediterranean Games.[2]
Personal life
She is married to Turkish oil wrestler Yusuf Can Zeybek.[3]
Career
At junior level, Sezer Zeybek won the silver medal in the 44 kg event at the 2008 World Junior Wrestling Championships in Istanbul and the silver medal at the 2008 European Juniors Championships in Košice.[4] In 2009, she won the bronze medal at the 2009 World Junior Wrestling Championships, and in 2010 she added another silver medal at the 2010 European Juniors Wrestling Championships in Samokov.[5]
She later moved into senior competition and finished 15th at the 2010 World Wrestling Championships and 17th at the 2011 World Wrestling Championships.[6] In 2011, she won the silver medal at the 2011 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament and the gold medal at the 2011 Mediterranean Wrestling Championships in 48 kg.[7]
In 2012, she won the bronze medal at the 2012 Yasar Dogu Tournament in Ankara and the silver medal at the 2012 Mediterranean Wrestling Championships.[8]
At the 2013 Mediterranean Games in Mersin, she won the silver medal in the women's freestyle 48 kg event.[9] In the same year, she finished fifth at the 2013 European Wrestling Championships.[10] She also won the bronze medal at the 2013 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament.[11]
In 2014, she won the gold medal at the 2014 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament in Sofia.[12] In 2016, she won bronze medals at both the 2016 Yasar Dogu Tournament and the 2016 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament.[13]
She later returned to domestic and international competition in the 2020s. At the 2026 Türkiye Wrestling Championships, she finished runner-up in the women's freestyle 53 kg division, losing in the final to Zeynep Yetgil.[14] Shortly afterwards, she won the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 50 kg event at the 2026 Yaşar Doğu Tournament in Antalya.[15]
