The Ruben–Rudolf Material Ropeway, also called the Rudolph Mine wire ropeway (Polish: Międzykopalniana kolej linowa Piast–Bolesław), was a material ropeway in the Nowa Ruda coalfield in Lower Silesia. The installation no longer survives today.[1]
History and route
The ropeway connected the Rudolph Mine shaft in Köpprich with the Ruben Mine shaft in Neurode-Kohlendorf and had a length of 3.4 km.[1] When it opened in 1899, the ropeway had a transport capacity of 20 t/h.[2] Later, the transport capacity was increased to 50 t/h. In isolated cases, the ropeway is said to have been used by miners as a means of transport.[1]
Cartographic evidence
The route of the ropeway is recorded on the Messtischblatt editions 5365 (1929) and 5465 (1934).[3][4]
The course of the ropeway in the Köpprich area is shown in even greater detail on a mining map from 1935.[5]
