Round Lake Heights is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 2,622.[3]

Geography

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Round Lake Heights has a total area of 0.63 square miles (1.63 km2), of which 0.58 square miles (1.50 km2) (or 91.41%) is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 km2) (or 8.59%) is water.[4]

As of the 2020 census[8] there were 2,622 people, 858 households, and 704 families residing in the village. The population density was 4,168.52 inhabitants per square mile (1,609.47/km2). There were 812 housing units at an average density of 1,290.94 per square mile (498.43/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 48.70% White, 5.34% African American, 1.03% Native American, 4.50% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 21.74% from other races, and 18.54% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 45.19% of the population.

There were 858 households, out of which 54.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.99% were married couples living together, 13.52% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.95% were non-families. 14.22% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.62% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.90 and the average family size was 3.51.

The village's age distribution consisted of 32.0% under the age of 18, 11.4% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31.4 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.1 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $74,286, and the median income for a family was $86,786. Males had a median income of $40,265 versus $30,515 for females. The per capita income for the village was $24,854. About 9.7% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.3% of those under age 18 and 3.0% of those age 65 or over.

Transportation

Pace provides bus service on Route 570 connecting Round Lake Heights to Fox Lake, Grayslake, and other destinations.[14]
