Raimo Pullat (born 3 April 1935) is an Estonian historian and professor emeritus at Tallinn University.[3] His work includes studies in Estonian urban history and historical demography, including research on Tallinn in the 18th century.[4]

Early life and education

Pullat was born in Tallinn and graduated as a historian from the University of Tartu in 1958.[5] In 1998 he received a PhD with distinction, laudatur, from the University of Oulu.[6]

Academic career

According to Tallinn University, Pullat held academic posts at Tallinn Pedagogical University and Tallinn University and later became a professor emeritus.[3]

Awards and honours

Pullat received the Baltic Assembly Prize for Science in 2001.[1] He was awarded the Order of the White Star, Fourth Class, in 2005.[2] In 2005, Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs reported that he was awarded the First Class Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland.[6] The same year he received an honorary doctorate from the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.[7]

In 2024, he received the Tullio Ilomets heritage award from the Estonian Heritage Society.[8]
