"Pookie" (French pronunciation: [puki], French for "snitch") is a song recorded by French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura. It was released as a single on 10 April 2019.
Commercial performance
The song met commercial success in Europe, reaching the top five in Nakamura's host country, France, becoming her fifth top five, four of which were official singles, and establishing herself as the French female artist with the most top-five hits on the French Singles Chart from one album.[1] The single spent nearly 100 weeks on the chart, surpassing "Copines" (72 weeks), and became Nakamura's second longest-charting single, after "Djadja" (126 weeks).
The song reached the second position on the Italian Singles Chart, helped by the remix with Italian rapper Capo Plaza, becoming Nakamura's first top ten in Italy.[2] The song also reached the top ten in Belgium, becoming her second top ten.
At the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, Nakamura interpreted the song with the Republican Guard on the Pont des Arts in Paris when leaving the French Academy. She sang it in the form of a mashup with "Djadja", as well as two songs by Charles Aznavour, "For me formidable" and "La Bohème".
