Location

Nowa Ruda Przedmieście is a railway stop in Nowa Ruda, Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It is situated on the Kłodzko Główne–Wałbrzych Główny railway, designated by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe as railway line no. 286.[1][2] According to the PKP PLK Passenger Portal, the stop is located at Kolejowa 12, at coordinates 50.5882431 N, 16.5153258 E, and trains call there only on request.[1]

The site developed in close connection with the coal-mining industry of Nowa Ruda. Municipal heritage material places the stop near the former KWK Nowa Ruda mine and identifies it as part of the town's mining heritage route.[3]

History

The stop lies on the railway linking Kłodzko and Wałbrzych through the Nowa Ruda basin. A modern historical study based on the 1937 Chronik der Stadt Neurode states that the section from Nowa Ruda to Kłodzko was opened in 1879 and that the section from Nowa Ruda to Wałbrzych Podgórze entered service on 15 October 1880.[4]

At the time of the line's early operation, the place was associated with the nearby Rubengrube colliery. An 1878 issue of the Amts-Blatt der Königlichen Regierung zu Breslau announced the opening of the section from Bahnhof Neurode to Bahnhof Rubengrube on the Schlesische Gebirgsbahn, documenting Rubengrube as the German-era railway name at that stage.[5]

Later sources connect the station area closely with industrial freight traffic. Municipal material states that before 1945 the site functioned exclusively as a goods station serving the Ruben mine and the Rudolf mine at Köpprich, the latter linked by an aerial ropeway.[6] A modern historical article based on Joseph Wittig's Chronik der Stadt Neurode further notes the very large volume of coal traffic handled from the goods station in the years before the Second World War.[4]

Because the available sources consulted for this article do not clearly establish the exact date on which the German-era designation Rubengrube was replaced by the modern Polish name Nowa Ruda Przedmieście, that transition is not dated here.[5][1]

Services

The stop is served by regional passenger trains operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie on the Wałbrzych–Nowa Ruda–Kłodzko corridor.[7]

Current timetables show services linking Wałbrzych, Nowa Ruda and Kłodzko, with some trains continuing to Kudowa-Zdrój.[7]
