Niklas Georg Lidströmer (born 3 June 1974) is a Swedish physician, researcher, and author.[1][2]

Lidströmer is a senior researcher at the University of Copenhagen and Karolinska Institutet. Lidströmer received a Master of Science (MSc) in 2000 and an MD 2002 from Uppsala University. He obtained medical license in 2005 and became a specialist physician in 2011.[3][4] He earned a PhD at the University of Copenhagen with the thesis Artificial Intelligence Powered Global Patient co-Owned Cloud (GPOC) of Personal Health Records. [5]

Lidströmer researches within artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and is a senior advisor within AI and medical applications. Lidströmer has launched the concept Global Patient co-Owned Cloud (GPOC) in several publications, including Nature Communications,[6] BMC Digital Health.,[7][8][9] and American Journal of Bioethics Open Research.[10]

Lidströmer is editor-in-chief for the reference work, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Springer Nature (130 chapters, 1,858 pages),[11][12][13] with a foreword by Eric Topol.[14] Lidströmer is also editor for Artificial Intelligence in COVID-19, Springer Nature, together with Yonina C. Eldar, with a foreword by James J. Collins, published in 2022.[15][16][17]

Niklas Lidströmer is the author of the monograph The AI Ideal: Aidealism and the Governance of AI, published by Elsevier. In this book, he introduces the new ideology, Aidealism and a few other new concepts. Here, he argues for a vision for ensuring AI strengthens democracy, ethics, and human dignity. Instead of allowing AI to concentrate power in the hands of a few, the book argues for a new global framework—one where AI serves justice, enlightenment, and human betterment. [18]

Niklas Lidströmer is also a pianist and composer and has released three musical pieces for piano and organ.[19] Niklas Lidströmer is son of the artist Louise Lidströmer, and the incumbent principal of the Swedish noble family Lidströmer.[20]
