The Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Centre, also known as the Whitbourne Youth Centre is a youth detention centre that opened in 1992, in Whitbourne, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It holds youth aged 12 to 17 and it has a capacity of 28.[1][2]
Sexual assault
A law firm filed a lawsuit on behalf of 70 former inmates who experienced sexual abuse at the centre during the 1970s and 1980s, resulting in a $12.8-million settlement for the survivors.[3]
